Olga Culmer
Olga Culmer graduated from Long Island University, New York with a B.Sc Degree in Accounting (Cum Laude) in June 1975.
Later that year she joined the accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand, now PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where she qualified as the first Bahamian woman with the American Institute of Certified Accountants (AICPA) in 1978. She remained there for 12 years and held the position of Audit Manager in both the Nassau and Freeport offices.
She later spent two years as the Financial Controller at a major International Trust Company.
Subsequently, she was employed with Bacardi & Company Limited for 20 years until its closure in 2009. There, she initially held the position of Financial Controller and later was promoted to the position of Vice President of Finance together with serving as Corporate Secretary in the last three years of her employment. She also served on the Executive Management Committee.
After Bacardi’s closure in 2009, she joined Sun Oil Limited, a Shell Licensee, as Finance Manager until her retirement in December 2016.
Ms. Culmer has been a member of the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA), the AICPA and the California Society of CPA’s since 1980. She is a past Council Member and Secretary of BICA having served eight years. She recently served on BICA’s Tax Committee prior to the implementation of VAT and is currently serving on BICA’s.
Practice Monitoring Committee. She is also, past Treasurer of the Sea Bees Swim Club, as well as a past Junior Achievement advisor.
